I'm a naturopathic doctor, health and wellness expert, online educator and avid beach bum who traded in my high stress, fast paced life in the big city for a pair of flips flops and slow living on a Caribbean island.
I had a wake-up call that inspired me to change the way I was living my life. I realized that I didn't want to wait until I got 'there' to really start living. So I pushed past my fear and went after the life my soul longed for. I changed my ways, focused on healing myself and created a life that I love. Now I'm passionate about serving the world by helping others do the same.
I'm known for my obsession with travel, cookbooks and my love for 90’s hip hop. Most days you can find me in my yoga pants and messy topknot hitting the gym or chillin' in shavasana.
But moreover, I’m a woman who has discovered that healing comes from first learning to love and treat yourself with compassion and kindness, and listening to that small still voice inside us all.
Shortly after becoming a new mom, a new doctor and a new business owner (all at the same time) I hit rock bottom. I was burnt out, battling intense adrenal fatigue and postpartum depression. I had been having heart palpitations for months but kept telling myself it was nothing. I was also dealing with a terrible bout of psoriasis (an autoimmune condition) that covered me head to toe with making it painful to move.
Until one day my body screamed so loud that I couldn’t ignore it any longer. I ended up in an ambulance with my 2 year old watching as I was rushed to the emergency room with chest pain. I knew right then and there that I needed to change my life drastically if I wanted to be around for my baby boy.
I made my health and wellbeing a priority. I left behind the business situation that was causing me tremendous stress, left behind toxic relationships that drained my energy and gained a whole new lease on life. My husband and I made the decision to slow our lives down and focus on what truly mattered. We moved our little family from the busy city to an island in the Turks and Caicos. I started to put my body and my life back together by making lifestyle choices that empowered my body to heal itself, my mind to find peace and my soul to shine. Am I perfect? Nope! I've learnt it's not about perfection, but embracing authenticity and listening to my body and my intuition daily, making intentional choices that support my health and wellbeing.
I look back at that fateful day when I was loaded into that ambulance and I’m grateful. If it hadn't happened I wouldn’t have understood just how far I’d strayed from my true self. I wouldn’t have come to know my ‘why’ and just how much power I truly have to choose how I live each and every day. I wouldn’t have seen just how out of alignment I was living my life nor would I have the motivation to get back into sync with who I’m really meant to be.
I hear you and I can help.
